Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling creates tiny channels that activate your body’s natural healing process, while minimizing damage to cells. As we age, the production of collagen and elastin naturally decreases, resulting in wrinkles, loose skin, and other signs of aging. Microneedling stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin, promoting smoother and firmer skin. This highly effective treatment reduces signs of aging and enhances the appearance of your skin. It can also help minimize stretch marks on your body.

At Trouvaille Med Spa, we offer Vivace and Morpheus 8. Both treatments deliver the rejuvenating benefits of microneedling, however Morpheus 8 can be used on the body and the face to penetrate deeper into the layers of the skin, making it suitable for more advanced skin tightening and rejuvenation. Vivace can only be done on the face.

Vivace and Morpheus 8 both have their advantages and may be used separately or in combination, depending on the specific concerns and goals of the patient. One of our aestheticians will gladly help determine which treatment is best suited for your unique needs.

What to Expect with a Microneedling Appointment?

Everyone’s skin is different. Therefore, procedure requirements and results will vary. A Trouvaille Med Spa skin specialist will review with you the goals or achievements you would like to obtain to develop an individual treatment plan for you. We recommend multiple sessions to achieve optimal microneedling results, but you may notice changes after one week. If you have uneven skin tones or fine lines, you may see results after just one procedure. Patients looking to lessen the appearance of acne scars may require several procedures.

After a microneedling treatment, it will feel something like a mild sunburn with some redness, tenderness and possible swelling. There is no real downtime after the procedure. You will be able to return to normal activities immediately and after 24 hours, you can cover any mild side effects with make-up.

FAQs for Microneedling

Microneedling creates hundreds to thousands of “micro” skin punctures per second to stimulate the skin’s natural wound healing process – inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling – to prompt tissue remodeling without causing scar tissue formation. Most patients can return to normal activities within 24 hours.

Prior to the treatment, numbing cream can be applied to minimize pain that is felt during the procedure.

Microneedling procedures are brief. This procedure is gentler than most alternatives, so it may take more than one session to achieve optimal results. Results may become visible after one procedure. It is recommended that appointments are scheduled about a month apart, to give the skin time to rest and heal in between.

Inflammation of the skin is very temporary and reduces greatly within a few hours. It may remain slightly pink for up to 48 hours after treatment.

Microneedling can improve the appearance of stretch marks by stimulating collagen production and promoting skin renewal. While it may also benefit cellulite to some extent, results can vary, and multiple sessions may be needed for noticeable improvement.

Microneedling can be combined with other skincare treatments or products, such as serums or growth factors, to enhance results. However, it’s essential to follow your provider’s recommendations for compatibility and timing.

Microneedling can be performed on tattooed skin, but it may cause slight fading of the tattoo due to the stimulation of skin renewal. If preserving the tattoo’s vibrancy is important, consult with a professional before treatment.

Yes, combining microneedling with exosomes can enhance the treatment’s results. Exosomes are tiny vesicles that contain growth factors and signaling molecules, which can further stimulate collagen production and skin rejuvenation when applied after microneedling.

Microneedling creates micro-channels in the skin, significantly increasing the absorption and efficacy of topical skincare products applied immediately after the procedure. This can enhance the benefits of ingredients like hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, and peptides.

The number of microneedling sessions needed for acne scars depends on the severity of the scars and the individual’s response to treatment. Generally, most will see significant improvement after 3 to 6 sessions spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart. For mild scars, fewer sessions may be adequate, while more serious scarring could involve additional treatments. During your consultation, our licensed aestheticians will evaluate your skin and create a tailored treatment plan for your specific needs to ensure the best results. Consistent treatment and following the recommended schedule are key to achieving optimal outcomes.

Microneedling can provide long-lasting corrections for acne scars, but the results are not necessarily permanent. The treatment works by stimulating collagen production and skin renewal, which significantly reduces the appearance of scars and improves the texture of the skin. While many enjoy the benefits of microneedling for years, factors such as skin aging, environmental exposure, and lifestyle choices can influence the longevity of the results.

To maintain the positive effects of microneedling, periodic maintenance sessions and a good medical grade skincare regimen are recommended. Additionally, protecting your skin from sun exposure and using quality skincare products can help prolong the results. During your consultation, our licensed aestheticians will provide advice and a customized maintenance plan to help you keep your skin looking its best.
